aTelecine... experimental music porn.

holy shit.

no seriously, holy shit. this is completely, fucking amazing. this is the second release from aTelecine through Pendu sound recordings... and it's fucking destroying me. a collection of sound collages made from  tape loops, vocals, and instrumentation. at once creepy and reassuring... the sound is completely enveloping. reminiscent of coil... and somehow david lynch. there are even moments that feel like good doom metal should... though significantly more minimal "i came, i sat, i departed" sludges along at a perfectly balanced pace at once lazy and anxious.
i fucking love this shit... you might notice that i never really review music... i just kinda put it out there. probably for the better... but, i kinda can't help it in this case... people need to get on this...

oh yeah... this is also the music project of SASHA GREY... now, i know a fact like that shouldn't be an afterthought... but  in this case it kinda is.
fuck... what an amazing afterthought.

the present moment...

so, not fer nothin'... blogger has been kind of a dick lately... hopefully i don't incur their wrath any further by making this statement. but they've had me all fucked up in the game for some dayz now. and by that i mean weeks. i haven't been able to post for awhile and my 120 MINUTES mix that the FADER had featured has been down as well... it would seem, that someone somewhere objected to something in the track listing of side b? same issue with box.net... so whoever you is, random nameless entity that doesn't understand or appreciate mixtapes, eat a bag of dix. I even have a li'l disclaimer on the side of this here blog asking if anyone has any issue to let me know and i will voluntarily take shit down... but... life's a bitch... and apparently that bitch can't read.
moving on... we been working on a remix for this track "million to one" by THE PRESENT MOMENT.
here is an unfinished version... the original is sick... hopefully ya'll dig what we got on it. feel free to throw out feedback... def gonna tweak the vocals a bit more.

being busy is it's own kind of drug... sometimes stimulant, sometimes depressant, sometimes hallucinogenic...120 MINUTES MIXTAPE

so google is a bitch and keeps taking this tape down fer no good reason... but peeps keep asking me  to put it back up... so here we go again... this is the original post with new links fer the download... tracklisting is embeded in the file.
me and oOoOO are gonna be doin' a new 120 mix soon...

sorry it's been a second... and then some. i've been working on a lot of projects. one of which was this mixtape. i actually finished it weeks ago, but again, the overwhelming crazy that is my life as of late has kept it on the back burner. but here it is, in all its random glory... the particularly amazing part is that side b was mixed by none other than oOoOO... yep that's right, one of the high priests of "witch house" has helped to bring you a fabulous romp through crazytown filled with everything from creeptastic meena kumari remixes to...

T and A

i interact with my tumblr significantly more often than i do with this here blog... there are a few key reasons for that... one is obviously ease of use... i don't have to think much, it's more of a scrapbook than anything else... two, it feels significantly more social... people respond to what i post and do so quickly and quantifiably... it has a good sense of instant gratification to it... three, there is just so much more nudity involved... tumblr is a bit more comfortable with explicit material.
in light of the amount of traffic i've been getting here as of late, i aim to even out this equation a bit. i will make a concerted effort to post to this blog daily... and to throw in some nudity now and then... and of course musix... mp3's of shit that strikes my fancy and mixtapes... i swear i will throw out some more mixtapes... since the fader thing i keep getting emails asking for more mixes... so keep an eye out. they are coming... i promise... in the meantime, feel free to check out a couple of the older ones (linx on the right side of this page)...

MOTHERTONGUE.

MOTHERTONGUE is this big crazy freakout, in the santa cruz mountains, i was invited to play... and i'm absurdly excited about the whole ordeal. i mean how often do you get to play records along side several of your favorite bands at a haunted lodge in the redwoods?

"Nestled deep in the Santa Cruz Mountains lies the historic Brookdale lodge. Surrounded by giant redwoods, Brookdale Lodge was originally opened in 1870 as the headquarters of the Grover Lumber Mill. The mill was purchased by H.J. Logan of Loganberry fame in 1900 and was converted into campgrounds and a hotel. Since then the lodge has passed through numerous hands.

Between 1922 and 1945 the lodge was operated by Dr. F. K. Camp, a Seventh-day Adventist physician and a strict prohibitionist. It was Camp that built the magnificent Brookroom, a dining room that encloses a natural stream flowing down its center. This was the lodge's heyday. The Brookdale was the second most popular resort in California and played host to Hollywood stars, prominent families, foreign diplomats, and even a U.S. President. Famous persons passing through Brookdale Lodge included: Mae West, Marilyn Monroe, Tyrone Power, Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth, Hedy Lamarr, and President Herbert Hoover. The lodge was also famous for its first rate entertainment, attracting the best big band and swing groups of the era. There are at least three swing era songs written about the Brookdale including, My Brookdale Hideaway, A Place known as Brookdale, and Beautiful Brookdale Lodge.

Shortly before his death, Dr. Camp sold the property in 1945 to A. T. Cook and W. G. Smith. In 1951 it was again sold to a consortium of San Francisco businessmen and then to Barney Marrow, who also owned the Brookdale Inn across the highway.

It was in the '40's and '50's that the lodge entered its most intriguing period, becoming a home for gangsters and other shady characters. Secret passageways and hidden rooms were installed throughout the lodge and rumors of buried bodies under the floor began to circulate. Also during this time, six year old Sarah Logan, the niece of the lodge owner, drowned in the dining room creek. It's her ghost that is most often seen at the Brookdale. But Sarah wasn't the only watery death at the lodge. In 1972, a 13 year old girl drowned in the kidney shaped pool above the mermaid room forcing its closure.

The Manifestations:

Over the years there have been many sightings of little Sarah Logan. She is often seen in a white and blue Sunday dress walking through the lobby or near the fireplace between the lounge and Brookroom. She has also been seen playing on the balcony of the Brookroom, an area off limits to visitors and guests, and sitting beside the fire in the Fireside Room.

Some have even been approached by the crying Sarah asking if they could help her find her mother. As they turn to look for the little girl's mother, Sarah vanishes. The sightings aren't limited to visitors. The owners of Brookdale Lodge have also seen Sarah running about the lodges' lobby. From their description, Sarah was, "very clear, like a whole person" and wore a 1940's style formal dress. She ran silently across the lobby for about five seconds before disappearing through the office window. The owners must have been quite "spooked" because soon after the they hired several priests and psychics to try and rid the lodge of its spirits.

The niece isn't the only paranormal activity visitors to the lodge have experienced. In the Mermaid Room visitors have experienced hearing voices, the clinking of glasses, and soft music when the room was empty. The jukebox located here has been known to turn itself on and off when nobody is near it.

The stream running through the Brookroom:

When the Brookroom is empty you can sometimes hear glasses and plates clinking and people talking as if dozens of ghostly diners are having a meal. A ghostly woman, has been seen walking over the brook as if supported by a bridge removed long ago. Psychics speculate that she is the mother of Sarah Logan returned to find her daughter. The smell of gardenias often permeates the room at night although there are no gardenias in the Brookroom or the lodge. Could this be the perfume of Sarah's mother?

Big band music has been heard playing faintly in the Fireside Room and in the Pool Room. People have also reported cold spots, presences, and even being touched by unseen forces in the Pool Room.

Late at night doors slam and footsteps are often heard in empty rooms. They are particularly loud from the second floor conference room. Many have reported strange smells and having a sense that the room is full of people when it is empty. Psychics have identified one of the conference room spirits as a man by the name of George. He is a lumberjack and has also been encountered behind the lodge at a place where in the lodge's early years they chopped wood for its many fireplaces.

In the 1970's a wing of motel rooms was built over the spot where once stood the lodge's camping cabins. Room 46 of the motel wing is reported to be very haunted. A woman who worked at the lodge in exchange for lodging has reported that at night objects and shapes would fly across the room. Ghostly ballroom dancers would swirl around leering at her as they floated by. Ghosts would materialize around her bed, their faces sometimes vague and sometimes very very clear. One of the ghosts was a little boy, perhaps 12 or 13 years old, another was a man with his eye hanging loose on his cheek, and still another was a man with a knife wound across his face. Not all of her experiences in room 46 were visual. She also reports that once she felt somebody sit on the edge of her bed and stroke her arm.

The current owners have been told by psychics that, in all, there are 49 spirits in residence at the Brookdale. Enough to make it more than worth a visit.

Anytime you visit I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the charm, beauty, history, and the wonderful "live" entertainment provided by the lodge. To see exactly what I mean you'll just have to visit for yourself."

the importance of synchronicity and happenstance: part 2

so again... i believe very strongly in the concept and importance of synchronicity, as an incredibly powerful manifestation of magic.
as i stated in my last post, said magic has been working very well for me... through a long series of these synchronicity's i have put together an evening of absolute amazing that will be happening here in san francisco on saturday the 28th of august. these synchronicity's have not yet ceased and are creating an ever greater and more fantastic reality for me and you to enjoy...
i have, through no effort of my own, but instead solely through happenstance, begun working with a few other promoters (some of them old friends, some of them new... but all of them incredibly talented and tasteful), to bring this event into fruition.
...and of course there is more... i now have oOoOO (amazing witchhouse project featured on that mixtape salem did for the fader awhile back) booked to do a dj set (along with myself and Nako)(not to mention to play live on september 25th, but more about that later)... this is seriously going to be one of the most amazing events i could ever even witness, much more, be a part of.
..oh, one more thing... the night is entitled 120 minutes (the last two hours will be all music videos) and as promotion i will be releasing a mixtape in the next week or two featuring a 60 minute long A-side mixed by me and 60 minute long B-side mixed by oOoOO. more news on that to come.

oOoOO-i live for the day (mp3)

if you dig that track, which of course you do, check out the triangle records comp dis magazine put out that it is featured on... all lyndsay lohan covers... all fucking great.

the importance of synchronicity and happenstance.

i believe very strongly in magic... and one of the most powerful ways it presents itself is through synchronicity and happenstance. synchronicity was defined by Jung as a meaningful coincidence of an external event with a psychic event, such as a dream, fantasy, or thought... these events coincide in time in a way that gives them meaning for the observer. that is, they seem as communications between a divine force and ourselves, and they confirm that there is a connection or interaction between our psyche and physical reality. this to me is magic... and Jung would generally seem to agree...

...but i digress... the point here is to explain the amazing that is taking place in my life right now... all around me, every day, i have been witness to these happy happenstances. my favorite example shall be explained in part now, and in part in an upcoming post.
yesterday i noticed an all to familiar sight that for various reasons always provokes me to intervene... actually intervene is completely the wrong word because there was no nobility or heroics involved... i just get bored and hate it when i see people i very much appreciate not getting along... you see, there was random nonsensical social networking drama... one of those situations that arises because it's very hard to truly convey sarcasm on the interwebs... and two people who i know and have known for years, but who don't know eachother, were somehow unhappily interacting... this led me to click some buttons and chat with both of them and randomly tell them that the other person involved was also an amazing person and it was likely a weird misunderstanding... again... kinda pointless, but i was bored.. the important part of this is what follows... one of said friends is an individual by the name of patrick (who runs an absolutely fantastic blog called cobain in a coma), and as i was chatting with patrick he made some mention of one of my favorite bands LIGHT ASYLUM, and one of my fave people lauren devine... so i decided to chat with lauren... and she put me in contact with light asylum's touring manager... so to make a short story long...

LIGHT ASYLUM is playing here in SF ON AUGUST 28th.

Chili pepper seeds are wonderful for protective magick and repelling. Wash them, let them dry out, and then place them in a
little glass jar with a lid. Bless your seeds in any way you wish... Make a label for your jar that reads whatever you like.
You can use the seeds to banish negativity from your home whenever you feel the need.
There are two methods for this:

1. Sprinkle a few seeds around your kitchen or home and then vacuum or sweep them out the back door. (it's best not to sweep toward your front door as you might remove your homes luck.)
2. Place some seeds in a mortar and ground them to a powder. Sprinkle the powder where needed and the proceed to vacuum or sweep up. Discard out your back door.

we knew the world would not be the same.

“If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one.”

“Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”

"Enola Gay, you should have stayed at home yesterday,
words can't describe the feeling and the way you lied.
These games you play, they're gonna end in more than tears someday
Enola Gay, it shouldn't ever have to end this way
It's 8:15, and that's the time that it's always been
We got your message on the radio, conditions normal and you're coming home
Enola Gay, is mother proud of little boy today
this kiss you give, it's never ever gonna fade away
Enola Gay, it shouldn't ever have to end this way
Enola Gay, it shouldn't fade in our dreams away
It's 8:15, and that's the time that it's always been
We got your message on the radio, conditions normal and you're coming home

Within the first two to four months of the bombings, the acute effects killed 90,000–166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000–80,000 in Nagasaki, with roughly half of the deaths in each city occurring on the first day. The Hiroshima prefectural health department estimates that, of the people who died on the day of the explosion, 60% died from flash or flame burns, 30% from falling debris and 10% from other causes. During the following months, large numbers died from the effect of burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries, compounded by illness. In a more plausible estimate of the total immediate and short term cause of death, 15–20% died from radiation sickness, 20–30% from flash burns, and 50–60% from other injuries, compounded by illness. In both cities, most of the dead were civilians.

ashes to ashes.

During the rise of the state hospital system, tens of thousands of patients with schizophrenia, severe bipolar, and other (at the time) seemingly untreatable mental disorders were abandoned by their families to spend the rest of their lives in the back wards of public mental institutions.
The only physical memorial that stands to the plight of these forgotten souls are the thousands of brass urns filled with the unclaimed ashes of society's mistakes. These urns are currently stored in a building at the Oregon State Hospital.

David Maisel’s large-scale photographs display the copper canisters that hold these ashes. The Oregon State Hospital, in Salem, inaugurated as the Oregon State Insane Asylum in 1883, stored the remains of over 5000 people in canisters in an underground vault in the mid-1970s. The vault flooded repeatedly, and the canisters—some containing unclaimed remains more than a 100 years old—underwent spectacular processes of deterioration.
Maisel writes of his work: “The copper canisters have a handmade quality; they are at turns burnished or dull; corrosion blooms wildly from the leaden seams and across the surfaces of many of the cans. Numbers are stamped into each lid; the lowest number is 01, and the highest is 5,118. The vestiges of paper labels with the names of the dead, the etching of the copper, and the intensely hued colors of the blooming minerals combine to individuate the canisters. These deformations sometimes evoke the celestial — the Northern Lights, the moons of some alien planet, or constellations in the night sky.” David Maisel’s Library of Dust is the subject of a large-scaled monograph released by Chronicle Books in 2008.
